Program description
The Post Basic bachelor of science in nursing (BScN) is designed to upgrade the foundational certificate obtained in the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) program. This gives candidates their complete undergraduate degree. It opens doors to further healthcare positions, such as in management and supervisory roles, among others.
Graduates will be registered under the Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM) category with the State Nurses Registration Council. They will be cleared to practice in nursing in hospitals, medical clinics, care homes and in rural outreach programs.
The program provides a balanced mix of theoretical and practical learning, though practical hours are nearly twice that of theoretical hours. Courses span the disciplines of humanities, arts and sciences.
Graduates may choose to go on to study for their master of science in nursing (MScN) degree, if they so wish.
