We offer nursing school bursary and scholarship programs to students accepted and enrolled in some of our programs.
Our goal
Guru Nanak College of Nursing has always operated with a goal to uplift and empower women through education. Nowadays, that goal includes men who also desire to become nurses.

As a whole, the institution works to produce skilled, committed, conscientious, and confident nursing graduates who can contribute to healthcare teams locally, and abroad.
This process starts in the classroom, and extends to hospitals, surrounding villages and slums where students practice what they learn in ‘real life’ situations.

Our mission and vision
To achieve our goal, we have formulated our mission and vision statements as follows:
Our mission
To empower women and men through progressive and meaningful learning.
To prepare nurse leaders, clinicians, scholars, and educators to meet the health care needs of the people.
To be a forerunner in the discovery, dissemination and application of nursing knowledge.
Our vision
Guru Nanak College of Nursing will be a centre for excellence in education, research and service that enhances the health and well-being of society and creates a community of well-informed, dynamic and self-reliant agents committed to service and social justice.
Our history
Operating under the umbrella organization of Guru Nanak Mission Medical and Educational Trust, the institute began as an aspiration of Mr. Budh Singh Dhahan – an activist and promoter of social justice and advancement in Punjab.

In 1993 the school opened as “Guru Nanak Mission Institute of Nursing.” It began by offering the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) diploma program to young women from the region.
Between 1998 and 2007, the school entered a partnership with Canada India Education Society (CIES), the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Nursing, and Guru Nanak Dev University. This led to the establishment of a four-year, BScN degree program – one of the first to be established in a rural area in Punjab.

In 1998, the name of the school officially changed to Guru Nanak College of Nursing.
In 2008, the Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program was launched. In 2011, a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Nursing program was added.

The faculty, facilities and programming have continued to evolve and modernize. The school meets the standards of the Indian Nursing Council and Baba Farid University for a degree-granting institution.
