Bio
Navjot Kaur Sahota is the Department Head and Associate Professor of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Nursing at Guru Nanak College of Nursing in Dhahan-Kaleran. She teaches obstetrical and gynaecological nursing, nursing research and statistics, as well as genetics.
Her approach to nursing is to care for the whole patient – not just their physical needs. This means caring for a patient’s emotional needs by listening to them empathetically, so they can receive the best care possible.
Between 2010 to 2011, she worked as a nurse in the emergency department and intensive care unit at Guru Nanak Mission Hospital in Dhahan-Kaleran.
In 2015, she began her teaching career at Guru Nanak college of Nursing, where she was promoted to lecturer in 2017.
In 2021, Navjot Kaur took charge of the institute’s Students Nurses Association (SNA). In this role, she organizes activities for the professional and personal development of students.
Navjot Kaur Sahota completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at Shri Guru Ram Dass College of Nursing in Hoshiarpur in 2010.
She received her Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) in obstetrical and gynaecological (OBG) nursing at the same college in 2014. Her degrees were conferred by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Faridkot.
For her own career development, she also took a 4-week, online health care professional development course at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from June to July, 2021.
