Guru Nanak College of Nursing, a dream dreamt by S. Budh Singh
Dhahan, transformed into reality in 1993. When Guru Nanak
Mission School of Nursing was established & further fortified,
when College of Nursing came into existence in 1998.
Guru Nanak College of Nursing is one of the Pioneer colleges
in Punjab, giving due recognition to spiritual needs without
consideration of cast, race, creed, religion and language.
The college is situated at 4 Km from Banga and 17 KM from
Phagwara on Phagwara-Chandigarh Highway. The college is running
two courses i.e. G.N.M. and B.Sc. Nursing and is recognised
by Punjab Government and affiliated and recognised by Punjab
Nurses Registration Council and further authorized and recognised
by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Baba Farid University
of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
To acquaint the nursing students with advanced nursing technologies
at the international standard level. The college has signed
a partnership with UBC School of Nursing, Vancouver, Canada
on May 22, 1999 and no other college in whole of the Punjab
is facilitated with this facility. This partnership is meant
for exchange of students, faculty and information to promote
their knowledge & skill upto the level of international
standards. Thus on the basis of student exchange programme
of B.Sc. Nursing Interns to UBC School of Nursing, Canada
for a period of one month, every year. UBC has also sent its
first batch of four students along with one faculty member
for a period of 4 weeks w.e.f. March 25 to April 18, 2004.
This continuous process is going on.
Though located on rural area, the college has beautiful, well
ventilated spacious buildings. Class rooms are equipped with
high technology and latest instruments like TV, VCR, Silver
Screen, OHP's, Data Projector, Slide Projectors etc. thoroughly
qualified technology facility has left no stone unturned to
establish an international standard of nursing education.
Moreover, computer education is also imparted to nursing students
enabling them to meet the challenge of new millennium.
Every year, college shows excellent result in both courses
e.g. G.N.M. and B.Sc. Nursing wit 100% result and top class
positions in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
In order to get a vast knowledge and experience, college sends
its students to different hospitals, like Oswal Hospital,
Ludhiana, Fortis Heart and Multispecialty Hospital, Mohali,
General Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, Institute of Human
Behaviour and Allied Sciences, New Delhi etc. where students
serve humanity with total dedication & sincerity.
The college is always engaged in preparing well-qualified
& registered Nurses at various levels to contribute as
members of health care team, aiming especially at upliftment
of women folk of Rural Punjab.
From time to time; various workshops and seminars are also
arranged in the college premises, upgrading the existence
knowledge of students & teachers as well.
College is also providing a chance for faculty members to
gain post graduate education in UBC within few months.
The college is thus a centre of excellence for the pursuit
of higher studies & practice in nursing & is striving
to give direction to nursing profession to serve better &
the best.
The G.N.M. graduates of this institution are readily accepted
in various countries like Canada, USA and England. They can
also pursue their studies in post basic B.Sc. Nursing. They
can do M.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing also.
The B.Sc. Nursing graduates can do M.Sc. Nursing and also
can pursue their studies in Ph.D. Nursing also. So there is
a wide scope for them to progress in profession as well as
they can work in various reputed hospitals and college of
Nursing in India and abroad. They are readily accepted by
the leading countries of world like USA, Canada, England etc.
